Sudden batch of asynch VCDs after many successful attempts!

I have been happily using DVD2SVCD for about a year and a half. I have successfully made many SVCDs and then, since my standalone Sony DVD player won't play SVCDs, have used the "VCD header trick" to multiplex the muxed files and have burned a dozen or more VCDs which work very well in the Sony. My problems started several months ago when I began getting problems with the burned VCDs being out of synch on Sony - while working fine on my PC. I have searched through posts on this board and on Doom's board and can't find anything which helps me to resolve this problem. During the period leading up to the problem, I updated DVD2SVCD to ver 1.1.0 b1 (but am still using the original CCE 2.50), updated Nero Burning to ver 5.5.10 but went back to ver 5.5.9.17 after reading about problems with the newer version. Somewhere along the line I have acquired a mixed ASPI layer ( I have no idea if this is related to the problem)with the following: ASPI32.SYS- ver 4.7 WOWPOST.EXE - ver 4.6 1021) WINASPI.DLL - ver 4.6(1021) WNASPI32.DLL -ver 4.7. I've been perplexed by this for nearly two months now and can't figure out why even though the "header tricked" files appear fine on my PC they keep being out of synch when I burn them. Can someone please help!

Search Forum For Force Aspi & Aspi 4.60 this is the best one to have in BUT it probably is not the problem but its a good place to start

Not experiencing your problem, I'm not sure if I can help, but first I would fix ASPI problem as The Poacher said. I would also upgrade your DVD2SVCD as there are now a new version out with a few bug fixes.

Continue to use CCE 2.50. and try using MPEG2DEC2.dll (in Framserver Tab) instead. Set offset in the bbMPEG Tab to 1 sec with no overlap.

Hope they help.

Many thanks for your quick replies. I'll use ForceASPI to fix the layer and implement the MPEG2DEC2.dll suggestion and give it another try. Its been driving me nuts and I can't begin to tell you both how frustrating it is to have made so many fine VCDs and then suddenly not be able to make any that are "watchable". Thanks again, I'll keep you posted. BTW, how common is it to have the mpgs play perfectly on the PC (with Power DVD) with no asynch problems, but not once they are burned?

"BTW, how common is it to have the mpgs play perfectly on the PC (with Power DVD) with no asynch problems, but not once they are burned?"

Thats not common at all for standard VCD's or SVCD. Thats the point. What your doing is all non-standard stuff and so expect the problems.
