subtitiles not working

i followed the DVD 2 SVCD guide here and have had no success with the subtitiles. I appear to have done it correctly. The program creates a new mpg file for me that is a few mb larger then the original mpg file. I presume this has the subtitiles in them?

When i check out the SVCD on my dvd player the subtitiles are not working.

I noticed there is a folder full of bmp with subtitles so i presume they were ripped correctly.

Any advice?

you have to set on permanent subtitles in dvd2svcd, otherwise it won't burn the subtitles omn the cd. I also had this problem and thsi solved it.
