strange problem

Hi i hope someone can help i have a strange problem with my sony dru-530a burner it burns dvd no problem but it will not burn to cd this is a stock 8x dvd burner no firmware upgrades hope someone can help cheers

What software, and how does it show up?

If you use anything with a "hide CD-R media" function to play backups, that can interfere with detecting recordable CD-R media (eg. it keeps telling you to insert a CD-R/RW, when you already have).

am using nero 6 for cd and basicly when i go to burn onto a cd the unit drawer opens and a message asks me to insert a blank cd even though i have inserted a blank cd

1. disable IMAPI: http://dvdrbase.com/showthread.php?t=32137
2. update your drive's firmware
3. download and apply Ahead's clean pack: http://www.ahead.de/en/631938356417810.html
4. update to the latest free Nero version: http://www.nero.com/en/updates.html
5. do a test burn with Nero and attach the Nero log file here, so we can look for conflicting drivers; the Nero log file is called "NeroHistory.log" and is stored in the Nero program folder; when posting the file please delete out your Nero serial number;
