Strange problem when playing DVD's & VCD's

When I play DVD's & VCD's on my system the picture is always too large to fit in the screen almost as if its been zoomed somehow.
I run XP pro with WMP9 and also Power DVD XP and I have this problem with both programs.
Perhaps I have accidentally changed a setting somewhere but I'm buggered if I can find it.
All is OK on my kids pc with same os and same progs.:confused: :confused:
I hope one of you kind helpful persons out there can help me.
