Some time ago I emailed Pioneer cause I had probs reading 90 and 99 min CDs with my 105 and got the official answer that they do not support CD sizes greater than 80 mins.
So the problem IMHO is the drive specifications and nothing else, although another member posted somewhere else in this forum that his 105 could read 99 min CDs
Here's the emails exchanged:
90 minute CDs are an unsupported format of CD on any of our CD or DVD
products, You may also find that the 90 minute CDs will not playback
correctly on a large number of CD audio players or CD ROM drives. We
only
recommend the use of disks upto 700MB, 80 minutes are used in any
Pioneer
product.
This is not a fault with your drive.

105SZ and 90min CD

I burned my first 90min CDs. The first one as an AudioCD Nero
reported that
I burned 89min 56,28sec) while the second was a data CD (Nero reported
790MB - 89:53,50min). Burning was @ 16x with a Plextor 16/10/40A
burner.
The Pioneer 105 SZ DVD I own refuses to read:
a) The data CD
b) the audio tracks beyond 80min
So questions arise:
1) Is it a matter of firmware? (I have flashed the original 1.33 F/W)
2) Is it a matter of defective hardware? How should this be fixed?
Thanks
