Strange Happenings with Pioneer A05 - Help.

Hi all, hope someone can help.
My problem is that backed up DataCD (mode1) aren't being read by the drive.
I've had a Pioneer A05 dvd recorder for just over a month now and everything has been fine until a few days ago.

I originally burnt a copy of my Nero V5.5.7.1 and the backup was being detected (autorun starting ok) in the Pioneer. But now for some reason it's not being recognised. Windows says it's a blank CD-R. The original CD is detected ok. I place the same burnt cd in my other DVD reader (Samsung installed on same machine) and it's read perfectly.

So I experiment .... I do an CD to CD copy of the Nero Cd (I upgraded to 5.5.10.7) and it copies perfectly but it can't be dectected on the Pioneer but the Samsumg it's fine.

Running XP Pro and Windows 98SE on separate partitions and both OS give me the same results.
I have ASPI 4.6 installed correctly and also Nero ASPI is installed correctly.
DMA is set to on for both drives.
Updated firmware to Ver 1.21

Do you think I have a faulty drive?

Well, I tried the pioneer in a friends machine with the same results. So it's being sent back under warranty.
I replaced it with a Sony DRU-500A and it's working perfectly. It even recovered my DVD-RWs I thought I'd destroyed.
Fortunately Sony uses DLA also so I can continue reading my media created with the Pioneer.

Drastic solution for your problem....:D
But you won't regret it,the Sony is a good drive, and can handle all types of .cue and .bin perfectly, unlike the Pioneer..:)

hmm. must have been faulty.
The pioneer reads more discs than the liteon 163 can.
Although it does it much slower (the same as the sony)
