stopping the news ticker?

is there any way to sotp the news ticker?, its kool and stuff, but it really slows down my Netscape for some reason.

Would yo uguys think of putting in a stop button to stop it, or maybe try to get it to assign itself a low priority thread so it doesnt put up a fight for cpu time?

hmmz ...
I am not sure if it is possible to set a lower priority to any page/frame opend with a browser ...
but there might be a way to make a disable function for the newsticker. I will look into this issue.
If you have any suggestions post ...
Since I am not the HTML grandfather :D

hmm yo ushould be able to put a stop button on there, or maybe get it to stop once a user clicks on it, and then restart if they click again or something.

ive done some java programming but i dont know if id be able to help, let me look at the source?

I set my Outpost Firewall to content-block "newsticker.shortnews.de" - Crude but effective!
If nothing better, you could try the HOSTS file to block it

I found the same thing, caused a considerable slowdown.

It MAY be the Java Engine - the IBM version is supposed to be a more optimized compile than SUN's, and a lot more up to date than the Microsoft one I'm using with IE.
