Star Wars EP2 - Whats it encoded in

Hi all,

I have the downloaded Star Wars EP2 files but cant seem to get them to run under any media program. Is there some program on the web that can tell me what codec was used to encode the movie? According to Windows XP, its encoded in MP3 which doesnt sound right.

Also once i've found out what its encoded in, what program should I use to watch with.

Thanks

Chris

P.S> Can I make this AVI into a VCD?

If its a proper avi format then Powerdvd software should play it.
If still having problems then download and install Divx codec 5(Divx Pro Bundle can be got from this site).......Hope that helps.

Also load the avi into Nero.....use the wizard and select vcd.......it will then re-encode and write out as vcd.

& don't use Nero to re-encode it to VCD, as it gives very poor results.
But the star wars ep II are all poor quality right now, so you don't even have to bother. (I don't like people using video cams in theatres lol *what's the point of getting the movie like that? just to say you have it?)

Chris, what you have downloaded is a DivX (AVI). To be able to play it on your computer you need the DivX Codec (5.02 is the latest) installed. Get if from our main site at www.cdrsoft.cc

To convert it to VCD just have a read in the Movies Tutorial section for a method. It will reatin as much quality of the AVI as possible. However, I would NOT recommend using Nero to encode anything, the results are quite poor.

there are 2 releases known to me. one is divx the other (3 cds) are svcds. so as said you need either divx 5.x or windvd (or others).

There is an svcd of this movie? Is it any good? I have the camera in the moview theatre one and it leaves allot to be desired. Do you know where I can get the svcd (3 disk) one?

The Centropy rls of SW2 is the best I've seen so far its not svcd but better than any other I have seen. They used it to make a pirate pressed dvd as well although it aint anyway near dvd quality.

centropy's telesync is the best i saw m8. at first it went out as svcd on sharereactor then as divx on the net.

here to get the svcd m8: _http://www.sharereactor.com/release.php?id=1728

svcd rulez!

ya too bad I find those centropy's to be junk. When I get one like that, I immediately return those to shop & give a blackeye to whomever is there if needed lol.
What is the point of selling a DVD if the quality of the image is not... but many people don't mind them =), & that's just a personal taste. lol
