Standalone doesn´t play svcd well

i used the tutorial of how to convert dvd to svcd using dvd2svcd, and everything looks fine by the time it finishes. but when i burn the cd-rw (i´m testing before), it plays in my computer (without the subtitles) but doesn´t in my standalone (a philips 615). in the standalone the image is really bad, all black with some squares.i don´t know what to do, i thought that maybe if i use TPMpeg instead of CCE it may work, what do you thing? do you have another solution?

I checked a player compatibility list, and this unit (Philips 615) is listed as SVCD compatible. However, it also says that this unit is VERY picky about media. Do you have another brand of CD, preferably CD-R, not CD-RW, that you could try?

TMPGenc or CCE will produce the same SVCD compliant files (quility will differ though). Just try aybesea's suggestion.

the problem is that my cd-rw burner has some problems, and for now it´s not burning cd-r´s. but after i solve this problem, i´ll check it out. thanks anyway.

You can tray lower the framerate some standalone players have some problems with that (I use normal 2400 for PAL).
Bij PAL is framerate(beeld)+bitrate(sound) max circa 2700.
