Spruceup problem

I've followed Chickenmans guide for creating Xvid to dvd-r but as all seemed good I failed near the final hurdle it won't load in SPRUCEUP. I remaned both files with the correct extension. What I would say is that the original file is 23.976 FPS does this matter when trying to create a pal dvd?

These are the setting of the Original file:

23.976 FPS

Codec: Xvid

Videa Format Aspect: 640 x 272

Video Format Bitrate : 970 kb/s

Video Codec: XviD MPEG-4 Video Decoder-->Bicubic Video Resizer

Audio Media: WAVE_FORMAT_MPEGLAYER3 (MP3) (0x0055)

Audio Format Bitrate: 35 kb/s (67/ch x 2 ch) VBR LAME3.91

Audio Format Fs: 48000 Hz

23.976 is a ntsc format. NTSC FILM.
You have to choose NTSC in the preferences and then start a new project for it to take effect.
Which files are u trying to load into spruceup?

I've manage to load the LOTR.mpv file but the .ac3 file does'nt load straight after. Is the audio file meant to be mpeg, as i've got three audio file one is :

mpeg Extracted_audio_1 169mb

the other is mpeg 240mb

and the other is wave 1.87gig

I changed the top two to LOTR.ac3 so I could try them both but no joy.

I named the the files : LOTR.mpv & LOTR.ac3
So i'm a right in saying that the audio file is mpeg which plays in WMP? Cause there the only ones i've got. When I use to do dvd to dvd-r the .ac3 can not be play in WMP.

change the ac3 to mpa. and try again. if not try changing to mp2.
Its late, I'm tired and my memory is going. ;)

You simply cant rename a *.mpa file to *.ac3 and expect to confuse SpruceUp in thinking its an AC3 file. If the *.mpa file does not load, I suggest you use BeSweet (with GUI or AC3 Machine) to convert the *.mpa to *.ac3 correctly.

Your movie is NTSC Film and you need to load in the PULLDOWN_Encoded_..... file as NO authoring program will accept at 23.976 fps film, it must be 29.97 fps for an NTSC or 25.00 for PAL. Just create a NTSC DVD, it will paly fine on your DVD Player on your PAL TV.

I'm stuck again Chickenman, this is where i'm at:

I've d/l Besweet as well as AC3 machine. I open up the AC3 machine then I entered in my file that I want to convert to AC3 which was D:\DVD\Encoded_audio_1.mp2 OUTPUT:D:\DVD\ac3

I was using this guide as i've never used this program before : http://www.doom9.org/index.html?/ac3machine.htm

I tried it a few times with change the framerate from ticked and unticked just in case. But I click on "Give me AC3" and nothing happens.

Your a diamond m8 thanx worked a treat !!!! just waitind for it to finish transcoding or converting :)))))))), thanx again.

I finally put it on dvd-r and the picture is "SWEET" all it's all in sync.........but the sound quailty as drop dramatically where now I have to turn the sound up a lot higher to listen to it, is it possible to have the same sort of quailty as in the original?.

Try un-click in AC3 Machine "Auto Find Max Gain: and click Gain instead and enter 20. Then convert, it should be a lot louder now.

Yes you can listen to AC3 siund as long as you have some AC3 codec installed. There is also an AC3 codec for WinAMP as well which I tend to use., so check out WinAmps site, www.winamp.com

I changed it to 20 as you said and listen to the .ac3 file in WMP, sounded fine, but when I loaded it in spruceup and played it, it went back to playing very quiet. Turn my speakers right up and I can just about here it in spruceup.

I'll give that a try now then. I've never used Maestro so I might need a hand m8 if thats ok. Is it the same sort of process as Spruce in loading the .m2v & .ac3 ?

Just tried Maestro and i'm getting the same thing, it plays fine if I play by using ifoedit, but as soon as i use my dvd software (WINDVD) the sound goes straight back down. I was going to try the tmpgenc method again of encoding the Xvid but the bloody thing keeps on freezing 10min into it. You get the feeling this ain't meant to be? Am I the only one having probs here ? As anyone else done LOTR 2 ? maybe there's a bug in the file....yeah thats what it is a bug !!!!! ;-))
