Splitting mpg

I was wondering what you guys use for splitting you mpg's? I am currently using TMPGenc but find it lacking. Can anyone suggest something else?

Thanks

Use MyFlix for VCD mpeg or MyFlix XE for SVCD mpeg. MyFlix is available in this forum but MyFlix XE is available from the Mediaware site and no crack is available. Search the forum for MyFlix, it's excellent stuff!

I do use these three tools:

- DV-Tool 0.49 ( I posted that one in the forum already)
superfast, can split to x parts with same size, splits also two language svcd streams (which tmpeg can't), freeware
no optical control; for splitting at a special scene you need to know the offset data.

- M2Edit Pro 5
expensive, slow, but with optical control; splits frame accurate; a lot of extra professional features

- Womble Mpeg2vcr 3.12
expensive, fast, with optical control; splits frame accurate; with some professional features (f.e. transitions)
small cute program :)

and some other ways ...

use

use TMPGEnc-2.58.44.152 new version
mpeg tools merge and cut

for burning compliant, nero ect
also try mpegvcr v3.12 if audio goes out of sync near end

MyFlix is not that good

Tmpgenc is great for svcd.
However u may find some problems with vcd after cutting as it incorrectly packetsizes the cut file.
On viewing the file on certain standalones (not all) You may find the movie keeps speeding up slightly or jumps or the ff/rw doesnt work.
To solve this use the transcode function of m1 or m2edit.
Just make sure you select special vcd.
Cutting svcd does not create the same problem.

try

TMPGEnc-2.58.44.152 new version gives correct packetsizes vcd/svcd (if cut correctly)

as for m1 or m2edit they give incorrectly packetsizes acording
to vcddeasy 1.1.2 mpegtools-analyse when you analyse a vcd cut
by TMPGEnc-2.58.44.152 new version you get no error message
plus nero compliant

as for m1 or m2edit, load mpeg cut into vcddeasy 1.1.2 mpegtools-analyse you get error message about packetsizes

e.g mpeg scan: pack header code (0x000001ba) expected, but 0x000001b9 found (buflen = 4)
...PEM (program end marker) found instead of pack header; should be in last 4 bytes of pack
bad packet at packet #565 (stream byte offset 1313060)

Thanx for the info on the new version of tmpenc.
However the packetsize problem is solved by m2edit when burning with nero, whether vcdeasy reports or not. Many hundreds of burns cant be wrong.
Using vcdeasy to create an image file is probably different.
I will try the new version as if you try to add chapters to an mpg file created with my version ,using vcdeasy, you get a padded out pile of rubbish as the result.
