Splitting a DL DVD-Rom

I am trying to back up a software DVD-Rom with approx 5gb of data on it. It is a program, not a video. As I have backed up DVD movies with more than 4.4gb using DVD Shrink and Decrypter, I have never tried to do such with a DVD-Rom program. Has anyone had any luck with this as far as splitting the program to 2 SL discs? If so, which software seemed to do a good job? Or am I stuck with putting it on a DL disc? Thanks for your help and patience.

Are you certain it really has 5Gb - it may be the same trick as on CDs, where duplicate files are mapped to a single copy - check the properties for the drive letter, or speed scan it with cdspeed and see if it reaches the hump and goes over it - only just getting to DL capacity, presumably a more expensive process, seems to be unlikely.

The cost of pressing a DL disc really isn't that much more than a SL one I don't think.
You mean that the disc contains lots of different pieces of software or just one app?
