Speakers & Mike problems using msn messenger

Hi,

I have recently having major feedback problems with my microphone and desktop speakers. It worked perfectly before when using msn messenger but now i get constant feedback ..... I have tried various tests using windows wizard etc but the problem still occurs. If i touch my mike it echo's back thro the speakers. If I use headphones there is no problem so I need to know if I have it set up wrong. Any suggestions would be much appreciated,

Thanks, Dave

Sounds like you have a feedback problen.
As MS Massenger sets the mice sensitivity to regulate it self for best pick up it is a batter choice to use a Multimedia headset instead off a stand alone mike and speakers.
you can try reducing the mike volume in the sound settings or turning off the mike booster. that should help but there is no garanty.

The greater the volume the greater the feedback if you ave a sensitive mike.

I found that the " Logitech Internet Chat Headset" http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm?page=products/details&CRID=103&CONTENTID=6339&countryid=19&languageid=1" is a good one to use, has build in volume control as well as a mike on off switch cost about US$25.

luckydog if possible try moving your desktop speaker away from your mic or mic away from speakers and do a new test to set up your mic and spaeker volumes.. Headsets tend to be the best option I found out miself...
