Sound gaps on SVCD on Standalone player

Hi,

I have a sound problem with some of my SVCDs when
paying them on my GO.VIDEO DVP865 player. It's not
the usual "out of sync problem", but every 10 seconds or so
the sound stops for just a little moment (less than a second).
And this goes on over the whole movie.

I didn't make the movies myself but downloaded them and
then burnt them with Nero.

I recently noticed the problem seems only to occur when I burn
Mpgs to SVCD.
I downloaded two different films, each of them in two versions:
as Mpg and as .bin image and burnt them.
I had the problem only with the two Mpgs.

When playing the films on my PC all of them worked without
this sound problem.

mpeg should be burnt as VCD and mpeg2 should be burnt as SVCD

check which it is with 'G-SPOT' search with google for gspot and download it and check what the mpeg is and how it was encoded etc :)

Nero is not particulartly good for SVCD burning (great for VCD though). I would recommend VCDEasy, just read one of the convert to SVCD Tutorials in the Tute section on how to use it. It can also burn out cue/bin files for ya as well.

I have the same problem with sound. I have MPEG1 and first I used MPEG-Corrector and later I used WinOnCD 5. My sound parametrs MPEG1:

Sample rate 44100 samples/sec
Bits per sample 16
Channels 2
Bitrate 224000 bits/sec
Audio codec MPEG1 L2

On computer VCD work perfect, but on my DVD sound stops on every few seconds.... :((

p.s on WinonCd 5 I made VideoCd with Video bitrate 1x

PLEASE HELP!

Alien9, does your DVD Player support playing VCD's? Are you able to play other VCD's with no audio probnlems. All your settings above are correct.

Can I suggest you burn them with VCDEasy as well and see if that cures your problem. Have you also changed brands of CDR's of late?

This might sound goofy, but if the video is OK while the audio is screwed up, you might try resampling the audio to 48K and then burning a non-compliant VCD. This might just work.
