Sony DRU700A is a LiteOn SOHW-832S

I just bought it yesterday and went to http://codeguys.rpc1.org/firmwares.html.

They have fixed firmware that helped me to convert the drive (VS04 stock.exe)

& in the overclocking section for the 832S, omnipatcher can enable 8X speeds on All - + R disks.

After applying patches, I burned Bencole 4X DVD-R's (50cents each) @ 8X.
I also burned Verbatim 2X -R"s @ 8X without problems.

Newegg.com has the LiteOn SOHW-832S for under $100 us.

NEC 2510 is available, and costing half as much... Even NEC 2500 can be flashed to dual layer, but it seems that this is definitely not recommended.

So this sony drive seems to be a good bargin for $199 US.

If you're happy with it,it's always a bargain,even if the original 832S costs less....
