Somebody???

Example;Guy is uploading a movie to ftp.......Can i start downloading,or i have to wait for him to finish uploading?

I'd wait as the upload speed is slower than the download so you would end up overtaking it.Hope that makes sense.

This looks as common sense explanation, any proof that download will be corrupted,or i will f...up something???Just curius

theoretically speaking, it shouldnt corrupt, if your download caught up with the guy's upload, your client would only think it (finished or) reached the end of the file when downloading and stop.

You'll just have to wait to resume the download after the rest is uploaded, assuming the server supports resumes, at later point.

However, that would apply in unix or linux servers, if it were a windows server, you probably would get file sharing problems at the server, so a downloader cant download, until the uploader stops accessing the file to upload.

But in practice, with so many combinations of things, theres always a chance of it going wrong and end up with a corrupt file, either in the original or during the upload or download.

Even if you waited for the uploads to be completed, theres still no guranteed the file isnt corrupt.

But having said that, a large number of files i download are fine, despite the god know number of times i had resume, when using 56K dialup.

All i have to add is - if you're downloading supposedly large files, you're best bet is to download either a compressed version in zip or rar format or multiple rars of the original file, but segmented. Because, you can check CRC with winzip and winrar to make sure the data is correct. If the rars or zips were screwed, chances are they are repairable or re-downloadable
