some dvd play but some don't play on either stand alone players

I HAVE A SONY VAIO RS530 WITH A DVD/RW AND ANOTHER DVD INSTALLED
I HAVE BEEN USEING NERO EXPRESS TO BURN DVD FILE MY WIFE DOWNLOADS THE PROBLEM IM HAVE IS THAT SOME DVD THAT I BURN WILL NOT WORK ON A STAND ALONE PLAYER AN OTHERS DO. HOW CAN I FIX THIS PROBLEM?
