That's pretty strange. I use a similar resolution to yours and I've always noticed Smartripper to be 800x600 (or something like that). I haven't noticed a setting to reduce it, but can you not go to the edges of it and try to reduce size?
Haven't come across this problem, so I think something screwy on your machine.
