What software do you use? (including any you might have running in the background *eg: antivirus)
What OS you using? (win9x/2K etc)
You've already indicated you have DMA enabled.

Personally I suspect it is either a Drive issue with your video card or within the software you are using for your DVD playback. Often it is the hardware acceleration settings. Try adjusting those.

I'm using win me...and it's the same prob with both Powerdvd and windvd.....i have just defragged my hard drives and its still there. I have norton anti virus but have disabled that. I however do have of lot icins on the desktop if that matters and alot of short cuts along the bar at the bottom. I've adjusted the hardware accel in the ati setings but not much success...i'll see if i can chage the settings in the software...i'm running dvd genie also and my dvdrom is on 1.23 RPC1 firmware.

thanxs i'll post if i get a result

you should be adjusting the hardware accel in the software that plays back the movie (powerDVD has it and so should winDVD), but that doesn't always do the trick.
Hopefully someone who had a similar experience as yours with pioneer DVD-ROM can help out. I sold mine last month and don't recall running into that same problem with it.

Good luck.

PS
something I forgot to ask;
does this happen with every DVD movie or just this one?
