slow burning problems

Can anyone help me,im having problems with both my drives (1 is dvd rom,1 is dvd+/-rw) when burning (nero) time says about 13mins average but ends up taking about twice that when timer runs out and both drives take longer than they used to when ripping (dvd decrypter) was all fine untill recently.
Set to dma,used aspi chack and force aspi everything seems ok,nothing new has been installed or removed all was running ok it just "happened" on the verge of reinstalling windows but dont want the hassle of re-intalling all the progs. again please help me guys!

have you tried a defrag lately !?

disabled any antivirus programs or have you a lot of stuff going on in the taskbar that maby eating into the system resources !?

Did you burn "on the fly", directly from -ROM to -RW without ripping to HDD first? Data? Video? reencoding/transcoding?
