Several different VOBs on new disc

I'm a newbie (just got my NEC ND-1100a yesterday).
Most threads here are about how to copy a dvd to dvd-r or dvd+r.

What I want to do is different:

I purchased computer mags witch have free dvd-rom included.
On these dvds there are movie trailers and behind the scene specials of upcoming movies.

What I want is to make a new DVD+R which contains several
selected trailers from these dvds. And the trailers have to be in the order I want them to play. It's not necessary to make a menu, but if possible, it looks more like a pro.

How to make this possible?
What (free) programs do I need?

I don't think it's a question of just copying the trailers (vob files) I want and then burn them with NERO. No I couldn't be that easy...

Thanks in advance for any suggestions....

The trailers on the magazine DVD's, well in what format are they? Many I have seen are in *.MOV format, then these need to be converted to MPEG2 DVD format. TMPGenc can do that for you.

If they are already in DVD format, SmartRipper or DVD Decrypter can be used to demux out the Video & Audio streams.

I would then use SpruceUp ( demo from http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd-r_tools/spruceup.cfm ) to author and add a simple menu.

You will need to read up on a few tutorials on how to do it all, have a look at http://cdrbase.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=25572 to start with.

ChickenMan, thanks for the reply.

Well the trailers are vob files. The dvd is a regular dvd so with ifo and vob files. I don't think the vob files are encrypted because I copied them to my harddrive and played them with Zoom Player.

Consider what I want to do is like an dvd compilation of several trailers.

What do you think of this:
- encode the selected vob files to avi (with dvd2avi ?)
- use a dvd authoring prog (which other ones than the ine u mentioned (spruce up))
- create menu with that program
- burn the dvd (with nero? record now max ?)

Yep what you suggested to do is fine except the first thing, AVI files are not able to be authored. They are already in DVD format so just leave them as is. Use DVD Decrytpter (or smartripper) to rip each trailer to your HD (in IFO mode) but turn on Stream Processing and select just the Video stream and the audio track your after but for each, also select Demux. Make sure in Setup that you have File Splitting set to none. There 2 files created are the ones you load into SpruceUp or Maestro (preferred) to author. You put then in any order you wish and the menu button will point to which ever one you want. See the DVD to DVDR tutorial on how to use Maestro.
