setting pixels in tmpgenc

i have a question for anyone that can answer it. i use tmpgenc to encode any movies that i download. my question is how or what is the best way to get rid of the pixel look when you burn a movie to a vcd how do i make it look not so either fuzzy or so pixeled in other words i guess smoother. i know in tmpgenc you can set a custom size of the pixels but what is best ratio. right now the one i am doing is 320x240 what would be a better ratio to get a smoother looking picture? thanks

i looked at all the forums you suggested but did not find anything that had a detailed description of tmpgenc for setting the resolution is there anything else you might suggest that would tell me how to set up tmpgenc for resolution. thanks.

If you are encoding a PAL VCD then you set the resolution to 352x288 and 352x240 for NTSC.

For an SVCD it is 480x576 (PAL) and 480x480 (NTSC).

Then you also have CVD at 352x576 (PAL) and 352x480 (NTSC).

If you aren't encoding to any spec then chose whatever resolution you want keeping in mind other factors like CPU power if you are saying creating mpg's for a GBA or whatever.

yes but test a sample in cdrw to see
if your player suport this sizes!
this can be a big problem.
some dvd players don't play svcds, cvds
and some differents "sizes".

and you can test this too:
this is only a example...
BicubicResize(464, 464, 0, 0.6, 0, 0, 720, 480)
AddBorders(8, 8, 8, 8)

why this borders?
you don't loose the borders in tv!
and more...you can choose overscan...etc!

then,with my poor english(sorry),
i think is better you follow the links.
there you get answers for your questions.
believe:
burn samples in cdrw before encode,ok?
if don't,you can loose your work and time.
;)

thanks for the advice i appreciate it but does changing the 320x240 for ntsc video format get rid of that pixel or i should say that blocky effect i always set the quantrize matrix the two slots at the bottom of the screen to 100 so movie will look softer but i still get that blocky effect is there a way to get rid of that look on a vcd? thanks.

Have a read of the DVD to VCD Tutorial at http://www.cdrbase.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=160 it explains all TMPGEnc settings needed to make the best possible VCD in a simple step by step operation. Step 4 explains it all. The biggest single setting that affects quality is the Motion Search Precision and needs to be set to Highest Quality (Very Slow). Anything else will result in poorer quality, blocky playback. You MUSt also load in the appropriate NTSC or PAL Template. Read the Tute, it IS all there.
