Separate the audio tracks in a movie.

Hi, I am trying to find some software that allows me to separate each audio track from a movie, ie. voice, fx, music etc. I am trying to play with the voice track on Star Wars ep1 and add a voice track from some other movies.
Does anyone know of such software?
Lore said that Chickman is the guy to ask.
Thanks

If your trying to extract the audio from the Star Wars Ep1 DVD, then that is no problem. Just follow the first parts of the DVD to VCD tutorial, SmartRipper and then DVD2AVI. You will end up with LARGE wav file of the whole movie in the language track you selected (Track 1 is normally English)

If the Star Wars is already a VCD, then just use TMPGEnc to De-Multiplex (in File/MPEG Tools) the MPG or DAT file and you end up with a *.MP2 audio file. Load that into your favorite Audio editor (Goldwave is good) and save as WAV (16 bit stereo 44.1)

But the Audio track obtained is a mixture of both speach, sound effects & music. They do not exist as individual tracks. Because speach is normally confined to a narrow range of frequencies, there exists some software that has some success in stripping it out. I would suggest you use the Search button as this has been discussed befoer but if unable to find it, re-post in the Audio section asking how it can be done.

Hope that helps.
