search problem

Why would someone turn on a feature that makes it so search terms have to be 2 letters? I tried to search for "max 5" (without the quotes) and it wouldn't let me search because 5 wasnt at least 2 characters long. Just seems like an awful stupid feature to me...

...

But I didn't search for 5 ;) I searched for max 5.

It doesn't matter though, I'm not trying to make a big deal out of it or anything, the forum's great. It just seems a bit odd that the forum wasn't programmed to tell if there was more than one term there not to check if there was only one letter in a term. I didn't want to come off like an ass.

It is probably a limitation of the software.Minimum characters was reset by me to allow the search function to work better. At least now others know this max character setting doesn't work.:)

Yea, that's what I did, and I found what I was looking for. :) I just thought I'd bring it up anyways because it could be useful in some situations to have a single character search term in there.

actually, it annoys me too but i never thought of complaining.

i a divx board i am on refuses to seach for anything less then 4 characters

so, divx, vcd etc cannot be searched on , it crazy!

it helps if you refine you search with single characters. no one is gonna be stupid enough to seach for "A" etc but searching on 3 or 4 keywords where a single letter is involved would seem fairly sensible to me.

agreed but if the refined search don't show you nothing you can always do a vague search as a 2nd resort. as long as its withing 30 seconds of course :)
