Search doesn't find all files

Windows XP search doesn't always find the requested files, even if they are somewhere on the system (of course with the necessary advanced options enabled). Is there an option or registry hack somewhere that will change this behaviour?

Sounds like being a permissions problem. Are you doing the search logged as admin, or restricted user?

just a hunch open a folder then check the tools\folder options\view and make sure you have ticked " show hidden files folders"
