Samsung CD-RW

Anyone here use Samsung burners?

I've got a Samsung SW-224 (24x10x40) and it it able to copy everything that I've tried. Basically everything that any of my LiteONs can copy I can also copy on my Samsung. :D

Like I said above, I got a SW-224 with F/W: R201. So far I've been able to make working backups which load in any drive of NWN, WC3, C&C Renegade, American McGee's Alice, IceWind Dale and Serious Sam - TSE. :D

My system is a P3 866 on a MS6337 mainboard with 512MB PC150 RAM. I'm running Win2000 Pro SP2. I was previously using CloneCD 3.3.4.1 but am now using 4.0.1.9.

What have you heard about Samsungs? I'll have to admit my Samsung is not like the drives you'd be able to buy on the street as it's an OEM drive.

Samsung CD-R/RW SW 240B

My Samsung is a real POS! I spent several hours trying to copy both games and programs on cd's, but nothing worked with clone cd or daemon tools.

Its a Samsung CD-R/RW SW 40-12-40 Model: 240B. Don't Buy It!!!

I hate to say this, but NONE of the Samsung CD burners got good grades from Clone CD. I wish I had read more.

I'm planning on going out to get an ASUS CRW 4012A or an ASUS 48/16/48.

These CDRWs are very fast on reading and writing, and can defeat CDS200. They can also write the new SecuROM * new * (NWN & WCIII) easily.

My .02!!

But my concern with the Litey's is this..I have heard that they can't write the new SecuROM. Is this true?

Price isn't an issue.

Thanks

I have been reviewing three lite-ons. Which do you recommend?

1. Lite-On LTR-48125W 48x\12x\48x
2. Lite-On LTR-48126S 48\12x\48x

Even after reading literature about these two CDRWs, I can't tell the difference between them. Do you know which one is better?

3. Slim Combo Drive LSC-24081
I like this one for everything it does, but am worried about getting something that's average, as opposed to the other two Lite-Ons above. These are the speeds I noticed for this lite-on.
a. CDR-24x
b. CDRW 12x
c. CD-ROM 24x
d. DVD ROM 8x

Does the Lite-On 48x-12x-48x model number 48125W work on Clone CD, Feurio, and Nero?

Thanks

I had the chance to pick up a Samsung 40X for £38. I was sore tempted, but didnt in the end. How does the 40X measure up in the copying protected stakes ?

For your question on protected stakes, the Samsung CDRW I have (Model: 240B) can't copy squat in terms of copyright protected games, Microsoft discs, or other cd programs.

That's why I decided to purchase the Lite-On so I could backup important CDs.

Here's a thing - are there ANY burners sold with anything other than NERO ?????
I used to see older Sony drives bundled with Easy CD Cremator. I think the newer ones come with Nero now. I have seen Pioneer combo drives selling with bundled Record Now Max.
