Runtime error

I used dvdstripper on the bonus disc of Alien in the Alien Quadrilogy. Just stripped out the warnings and such, no problems. Then I tried to use dvdshrink to shrink it down to one dvd, but during analysis dvdshrink came up with a runtime error and shut down. First time this has happened. I was able to use dvdshrink directly from the disc with no problems. Any idea why this happened? I didn't take out anything important. Thanks for a great program.

When you say you didn't take out anything important, what do you mean? Did you just rip out a few previews and extras or did you rip out any of the small 8-10k files? Like has been said a few times, it is possible that they may have had some kind of navigation variables/links that may be confusing/causing DVDStripper to crash.

By nothing important I meant the FBI warning, disclaimer, things like that. I didn't take out any of the little 10k files that are apparently just black screens. And it wasn't dvdstripper that crashed. I was using dvdshrink to shrink it down after using dvdstripper. Dvdshrink choked on it for some reason. I've used them together many times before, so I can't figure out why the Alien bonus disc did this.

Hi and welcome to the forums Mobius :)

I'm sorry to hear of your issue with DS but I cannot answer your question directly but please take the time to read the FAQ thread as it looks like you have overlooked it :(. I mention this info on the the site and also in emails I send out to hopefully stop posts regarding copyrighted material from appearing

As for your DVDShrink issue regarding runtime, have you previously analysed the Disc with DVDShrink? I've had the same error with DVDShrink before and it was an IFO related issue (self inflicted I think) but I cannot recall how I fixed it as it was a while back now :(. I think I tried older versions of DVDShrink (pre version 2.0) as they accepted it

I will try to see if I can find out what causes the runtime error in DVDShrink and post back here if I do ;) although I'm sure it's IFO/Nav pack related in some cases

Here is a thread with a similar issue
