Ripping region 2 DVDs for region 1 player.

Is it possible to RIP region 2 DVDs to a region 1 DVD Burner?

I have some region 2 DVDs bought whilst living in the UK and would like to play them on my US Player.

If it is possible, is it better to use a program such as "DVD Region-Free" software to RIP region 2 DVDs, or would it be better to simply change the region on a second DVD ROM drive to region 2 and RIP from that drive and burn onto a Region 1 DVD Burner?

I am not worried about PAL/NTSC problems as my DVD player plays both PAL and NTSC region 1 and region 0. :)

Kind of a followup question, which I think I know the answer to. Just want to be sure.

The DVD-ROM drive in my computer is set to region 1. Could I put a region 2 DVD in there for ripping purposes? I know once DVDDecrypter is done, the region is no issue. I imagine this would work. Am I right?
