Ripping and converting box collections

I was wondering if it is possible to rip and convert box collections such as the Simpson session 1 ( and the like), Star Trek the next generation (session 1 and the like).

The reason I ask is I have tried to rip a movie that has heaps of special features before and I only get part of the movie. I think it was the Star Wars episode II second disk.

I have seen that a few people have done movie sets like Band of Brothers and I was wondering the the general procedure would be to do so.

I use the new DVD2SVCD with TMPGEnc and I have SmartRipper 2.41, I use a 2000+ AMD computer with 512 meg of ram bound together with a 40 gig 7200rpm hard disk drive.

I have made alot of movies using Chickenmans tutorials both VCD and SVCD, and I have made about 5 Divx movies all with no real problems at all.

What I am looking at doing is backing up a version of Star Trek the next generation Session 1 and was wondering the best way to do this.

What you need to do is to follow the CM tut using SmartRipper & CCE 2.50, DVD2SVCD etc as you are doing.

However, when you use SmartRipper you need to use it in "File Mode" and select "all" the Vob's which contain the ep's on the DVD. When you have ripped them start up DVD2SVCD and on the conversion tab where you load the "Ifo" file you will also have to manually add the other files in your folder so that it will process all the ep's.

Hope this helps U out m8. :)

I have done ST TNG 1, 2 & 3 to SVCD. Also 5 & about to do 6 to DVDR then go back to do series 4.

You get 1 43 min episode per 80min CD as a SVCD quite well. But STTNG are a prick of a collection to convert as parts are interlaced and parts are not. If you follow my DVD to SVCD tute, you first need to rip each episode off the DVD to its own DVD as there can be files overwritten if not. Then just encode ach episode as normal as per the Tute, except for these:

1. Make sure when you load in the IFO file, click the [...] button and check that all the VOB files for that episode are loaded in. If not load them in manually. Normally the first one of each dvd is okay but 2nd and beyond are not.
2. Do NOT turn on any deinterlacing options.
3. In CCE advanced options, UN-TICK Progressive Frames, Ziog Zag and Linera Quanterizer. Also if its PAL then change N/M to 4, else leave at 5.
4. I have no idea how to set up TMPGEnc to do the encoding of ST TNG.

Hope that helps.

Hmm to be honest now I dont know what Im am doing! I have got the CCE you said to get in your tutorial but everytime I try and encode with it I get a system error and it wont work.

If I can manage to get it working again is there anything I need to do to make it operational, for example with TMPGEnc all I do is point the .exe file where it needs it and thats it, is it the same with CCE?

Thanks for the help it is good to see your all willing to help a newbie!

The best is to print the Tutorial out and have it handy when your going through the process. But I do update regularly though and dont always announce it. Always check the date at the bottom.

Hey sorry to be a pain in the butt again but is there anyone out there that can give me a run down on how to use the file mode feature, or is it in one of the tutorials chickenman has made?

Thanks for the help,

Aikido Shihan

Hey sorry to be a pain in the butt again but why dont you take the 30 sec to actually read the tutorials before asking. Help yourself before we can help you further.
