With its new slim profile DVD+RW/+R burner, the RW8160A, Ricoh meets the wishes of numerous computer manufacturers and system developers for a high-performance DVD+RW/+R burner which can be installed in notebooks or used as an external and portable drive. Due to the rapid spread of digital video cameras and the resulting flexibility of users, there is a rising demand for mobile solutions for the creation of original DVDs and CDs. Ricoh's response to these requirements is the new RW8160A which, despite its slim and compact structure, attains fast burning speeds of 2.4x with DVD+RW and DVD+R. Launching on the German market will take place in mid-April 2003, whereby the
production capacity will be adapted to the level of demand.
DVD+RW/+R is the standard which was developed from the conceptual cooperation of leading computer and consumer electronics companies and which is characterised by excellent compatibility with existing DVD players and DVD-ROM drives. DVD+RW/+R burners and media are easy to handle, which is one of the reasons leading to the high degree of acceptance by users.
