Like a true professional ;) I managed to write to the wrong drive using MTKFLASH (after having backed up the right one, not the wrong one, of course!). I think it now thinks it's a DVD drive and isn't very happy!

Could someone generate me a binary file for the above re-writer using MTKFLASH, don't care which version (1.00 - 1.13) as I can flash it using ASUS's own software once (if !) I get it back.

Please could you mail the bin file to me at chip_chaman@hotmail.com

Thanks in advance kind peeps.

hi pal ,welcome onboard ;)
y not use the official flash from asus home site?

u'll get all the official flash from the home site ;)

He needs the binaries in order to do a DOS flash in an attempt to ressurect the drive. Windows flasher will only work with a working drive.

Funnily enough, while that was totally correct, I had a go with the TEAK binary from DOS (what did I have to lose) and it worked fine. Still can't get the drive to think it's an asus though :(

firmware 1.11

ftp://ftp.asus.com.tw/pub/ASUS/cdrw/4816A/R481111A.afs

flash tool

ftp://ftp.asus.com.tw/pub/ASUS/cdrw/4816A/ASUSFhB6T4.exe

basic instructions ...

Download them both to the desktop or whatever. Run the flash program and click open and find the firmware file. Then click flash.

the best thing to do when flashing a drive is to disconnect the cables of the drive you DO NOT WANT TO FLASH then there is less chance of accidental flashing the wrong drive :)

just take care with all firmware updates :)

ASUS proprietory flash won't work

Because the drive thinks it is a TEAC, the ASUS proprietory flash porgram and ASF files won't work (says different drive).

Need to find a 110 or 111 binary file so I can flash directly using MTKFLASH (or win version)

thanks.
