Hey, I'm not up on the intricacies of DVD burning, so I'll be working from a pretty basic level. Be patient if I'm asking the obvious.
My old Dad is an attorney. He's got twenty-hours of VHS recorded meetings. He wants to 1. record about eight hours of that to DVD, and then 2. book-mark specific segments so that he can 3. replay them in court on an external DVD drive connected to his laptop.
So he needs a new DVD burner. Would you folks recommend that he get a standalone burner to record from the VHS? Or should he get an external IDE burner that would use USB or firewire to burn VHS to computer and then play from the laptop? Recommendations of specific models are much appreciated.
Last, can you recommend a reliable burning program that's not too complex, that will allow him to edit and mark DVD video as he records from VHS?
Yes, it's a tall order. I just don't want him to run out and buy a bunch a junk that doesn't work. 'Sides I trust the merited expertise of this Forum. Thanks in advance!
