removing angle 2 caused problems

I finally got a chance to try 0.20 and boy it looks great!

I put in a DVD that had a 2nd angle throughout the entire film, and using the new VTS menu I easily removed all angle 2 options.

I burned the results to a DVDrw and had some problems. When I do a scene selection, it jumps to the end credits regardless of what scene I select. Also, when choosing Play Movie from the main menu, it jumps straight to the end credits. I tried using the chapter forward/rev buttons on my remote and all i would get was the end credits.

Anyone have any advice?

P.S. I'm also having this problem still: Thread link

In the VST Selector window, expand each chapter to make sure all cells in red text (= linked cells) has a check. I encountered a somewhat similar occurance today when removing a theatrical version while leaving the extended version. Just a suggestion. Your situation could be caused by an entirely different reason.

nice tip with expansion. If you click VIEW then EXPAND you can view all Titles expanded and see if there are the linked cells by using the scroll bar

click the VIEW again to put them back in order of Titles by choosing the ROOT option

if it contains linked cells anywhere then it's best to untick all the Titles by clicking the very top box and then ADD the Titles you want to keep and this will ensure that only the cells required for that Title are kept. Any linked cells that don't need to be kept will be removed automatically

If you try to remove the Titles you don't want then the linked cells will be removed from your Titles you want to keep :(

@Tomaste, have you tried playing the other Angle?

DUDE! I completely overlooked the View menu. Thanks so much for mentioning that. Being paralized from the neck down I use all the keyboard shortcuts as possible. Using a mouse is almost impossible and a trackstick can be a pain in the neck at times (literally). :) I was manually moving and clicking each + per chapter and cell, lol. :D

another hint is that you can use the direction keys when using the VTS to select Titles/Chapters/Cells

to select/deselect whichever Title/Chapter/Cell is highlighted just press SPACE to toggle the highlighted selection

the only thing it doesn't do is allow you to play the cell but I've already added it to the list ;)

Yep I started using those tricks too, after going halfway down the chapters. :D

Thanks for the tips, just checked, and there are _no_ red items (linked cells) at all on this DVD

On my burned RW, Yes, and it just goes to the credits.

I'm going to re-do the entire process today and see if it was just some stupid mistake on my part.

Anyone have any other ideas?

Here's another hint that something went wrong.

When trying to process the output from DVDstripper with DVDshrink, i get an error. This leads me to believe there may be errors in the structure somehow.

sounds like something went wrong somewhere if DVDShrink is complaining as it should really load the DVD

was this with a fresh rip using new folders?

Yes I believe so. I'm starting the entire process over again now with empty folders, and i'll make sure I do everything right.

Heres the error DVDShrink gives me after doing the initial scan. I have no other problems with DVDshrink on any other titles.

I doubt it's the reason why but have you previewed the DVD using DVDShrink beforehand?

you may have to delete your DVDdata in the Application data/DVDShrink folder as sometimes it affects DVDShrink if you preview the orginal DVD before and then afterwards using the DS files

Ok, just deleted this, I wont scan the DVD beforehand. I'll try it again when DS is done with the dvd this time around.

Well, tried again with clean directories, and no luck. =(

Infact this time, I made absolutely no changes to the structure. I removed nothing with DS, processed, and still I get errors, and a non working DVD.

Anyone have any ideas?

I'm getting the exact same errors with my current project. It has some linked cells and is multiangled.

I unticked everything then selected what I want 1 at a time so it would automatically pick up the links it needed as suggested in the faq.

When i load the project in DVDShrink I get the same runtime error as you, but the original DVD doesn't do this and I've tried 3 times with a clean rip..

One thing I noticed is that if I take DVDStrippers output and load it into ifoedit and select VOB extras it gives me the option to strip the second angle even though I unticked all of the angle 2 cells in dvdstripper.

This leads me to believe that dvdstripper is not processing/and or stripping the angles correctly.

it will all depend on the original DVD structure as they are very complicated things and you have to respect them ;)

give us time and it will be sorted :)

Not a problem, thanks for taking note. I do have some additional info that may help you and the original poster.

After processing in DVDSTripper if you load the vobs into ifoedit and strip the angle manually and update the VTS sectors of the .ifos everything works fine. And I didn't need to strip any additional VOB IDs in ifoedit.

It seems that DVDStripper removes the unwanted angle cells, but leaves pointers to them in the ifos.... Ifoedit has this option to remove angle pointers in the vob extras button.

When I ran with that everything was fine.

Hopefully this helps you in your devlepment and it should get the original poster back on track.

Even if someone reading this doesn't know ifoedit the angle stripping option is pretty straightforward.

I had the same problem with a DVD recently. DVDShrink would crash, but InstantCopy had no problems with it and it played fine in my DVD player. I couldn't figure out why DVDShrink was crashing, because I had no problems playing it with PowerDVD and I ran "Get VTS Sectors" on it after stripping it.

BTW: This DVD didn't have a second angle.
