I read that you need to change your boot sequence in bios in order to boot from cdrom. I did this and chose new installation option from drop down menu. This took me to xp setup (blue screen) and gave me the option of repairing current installation or installing windows. When i selected install windows it gave me the option of installing windows or delete partition. When i chose install windows it said it didn't recommend installing windows on a partition which already had windows installed. When i chose delete partition it said it couldn't delete partition which had windows installed. Basically i don't want to partition my hard drive, i want to keep it as one, but i want to reformat it and then reinstall windows. If anyone has any experience of doing this any help would be much appreciated.
ps the only way i could do the above was to use win 98 startup disk and format with dos commands, and then boot from cdrom and install windows. It allowed me to do this because format removed the existing partition, but surely you shouldn't have to do this.
