This just confirms to me that stupidity is a major consideration in getting credit as an expert. I can't believe this guy does lectures.
This idiot who wrote that, confirms his stupidity numerous times in the article. One example, I quote, "For example during a momentary lapse of reason in the early-'90s I had purchased a Packard Bell system." Everyone knew and knows Packard Bell's are proprietary. To this day, they still suffer from expandability problems.
This guy is a relative newbie acting like an expert. Dell's unique power supply to motherboard problem, shouldn't concern anyone!
A new power supply (required to fix this problem) when purchasing a new motherboard is an additional $30. Even if not required, it's still a good idea to purchase a new one while upgrading. It would save you from having to do it a few weeks later when your old power supply die.
So big freakin deal! Where is the conspiracy!
He mentions many atrocities made by the likes of Packard Bell, Compaq, etc.. and then adds in Dell as if this was in some way in league with pc's that require to be tossed in the garbage in leu of being upgraded.
Dell has been, and always will be, the brand to buy for any person not able to build there own pc. The cases alone for Dell, get 5 stars in most reviews for ease of access. Not to mention all the other, now industry standards, that they've developed.
If you still don't believe me, look at his last statment. "Fortunately others like Gateway and Micron have remained true to the industry standard." Gateway is plague with non-industry standards (type GATEWAY SUCKS in any seach engine), and Micron Computers have been bankrupt for awhile now leaving customers stranded. Also, Micron computers were the biggest pieces of crap I've ever worked on (they use tape to hold IDE connections!).
In closing.. Anyone considering a new computer should buy a Dell.. unless they can build one themselves. Anyone saying otherwise.. is either a newbie or full of crap.
