ram not correctly id'ed

Just wondering if anyone has come across the bios and winxp not correctly recocnising the size of pc133 single sided ram modules.
eg. I have two single sided sticks of pc133 ram, my asus tusl2-c and abit bf6 both recognise only half the installed ram in the motherboards bios as well as within XP. However sisoft sandra identifies both modules correctly @256meg each. This occurs whether a singe stick or both sticks are installed.
The problem does not arrise with double sided ram sticks or on a gigabyte 6vtxe board.
Can anyone possibly explain why this is happening or how to remedy it?
cheers

you managed to find single sided 258 MB modules ? I've had a difficult time finding some here, what make, where did you get them please.

If the bios doesnt see the modules properly - windows wont either because it relies on the bios information.

Do you have the latest firmware for your motherboard, you might want to heck it out first.

Thanks for the interest guys. The ram modules are the same mhz, so that was not the problem. Problem is solved however, thanks to an ol buddy of mine.
Apparenly the intel bx and 815 chipsets do not support ECC registered sdram modules, which are the single sided ones. Which is why only half the module is recognised, if at all. Not sure if the newer 845 chipsets have the same shortcomings or not.
Shadey, managed to get them here in Oz, They are generic branded so no manuf details on them, and I cannot recall where I bought them from, sorry.

cheers
