Hi All,
Haven't been here for a while but am over joyed to see that the forum is still running! Big UP to all the folks at cdrbase that keep it all going! Anyway my question relates to Rainbow Six Raven Shield. I am trying to create a backup of the game on cd but I cant seem to copy disk 2. Successfully copied disk 1 in Nero but am having no luck at all in nero or clonecd for the second disk. I keep getting an invalid write state or medium error, error message. Can anyone help me please? I will be eternaly grateful for ever and ever!

It is I believe protected with SafeDisc v2.80.011, so Nero is definatly out.

CloneCD may work, although you might have more luck with Alcohol 120% or even Disc Juggler if you have the right hardware.

Thats what I thought, I checked in my device manager it just says its a standard QSI CDRW/DVD Rom, have no idea what make or model it is. I'm using a cybercom laptop so I guess I'll just have to take my chances! Thanks for your reply! I'll let u know how I get on!

Something else to add, if the only drive you have is a CDRW (combo in this case) then the copy will never run without something like Alcohol to block the ATIP check.

Ok so I've got hold of alcohol 120%, going to try it but before I do are there certain settings I need to ensure are selected/de-selected before I waste any more disks!!!!

Oh how annoying!!!! I am still getting the same problem with alcohol, as I did with nero and that is read errors starting from block 820. Clone CD let me create the image file to burn but wouldn't let me burn it, nero and alcohol wont read the disk properly. Am I doing something wrong? The Disk runs ok, installs etc and there are no scratches on it or anything like that.

As I said the game is protected with SD2. Therefor it is supposed to have read errors, that is part of the protection. If you use the SD2 profile then Alcohol should read the disc fine or if it is taking ages, try doing a fast dump.

It appears that you are right stone burner! Managed to create the image file but the burn process is still failing. I'll try what you said to do, then I think I will just have to give up! Or I'll try burning it on my desk top pc, see if I have better luck with that!!! Thanks all!

i had lots of problems making a backup aswell. i found a solution though.

simple copy and paste the entire cd contents to your hardrive then burn the files to cd using nero.

worked fine for me.

Coping & pasting the files will not result in anything even close to a 1:1 copy, you would therefor need a crack to run the copy, which as said is not exactly legal.
