questions for ChickenMan

I am using TMPGENc to encode from AVI to MPEG (VCD) from your tuts. and all are working nice and fine, thank you.

just 2 questions:

1.not regarding the size and time should i use CQ (CBR) or 2-pass (VBR) for best and stable quality?

2.regarding to the Audio:is there anyway to make audio sound
better like using toolame in TMPGENc or do you have better
suggestions in best quality sound after using the Virtualdub-to-Winamp method for MP3?

or

should i change to another software that can give the best quality?

Thanks in advance.

Okay a couple of points. a VCD is fixed at CBR, changing to VBR or CQ(CBR) will NOT make a VCD, only a fancy mpeg1 file commonly called an XVCD.

As for the sound, yes it can be improved somewhat just slows it down a bit. 2 options, suggest trying the "DVD to VCD with DVD2SVCD" tutorial but select the AVI as source and not a DVD.

Second option is to get a couple of other programs to use with TMPGEnc. In TMPGEnc click on Options/ Environment Settings/ External Tool. Tick Layer 2 and point to 2lame.exe and tick frequency converter and point to sscr.exe. You will need to install both these prior and you can get them from the download section of _www.doom9.net
