anyone have any experience with the uk stores 'ARGOS' supplied dvd player ......

ALBA DVD45 DVD Player



i know there is a handset hack for region free but apparently there is one to make it play vcd/svcd too but not been able to locate one !?

any info appreciated :)

My brother bought one, but he lives in Birmingham and I live in Devon.
I'll give him a bell later as I know he took back a SVCD from his last visit, most of these cheap players are pretty good. I bought a cheapy from Tesco for the Mum-in Laws birthday and it plays everything(can't remember the make, some Tawapeni jobby).

I Already own a kickbutt player a YAMADA UMAX 2100 :D plays everything apart from divx :)

even plays un converted vanilla mpgs from a cdrw :) :)

but will definatly look into the richersounds store :)

ok heres the LOWDOWN LTR12101B on richer sounds .....the model linked to above was only a few stocked and they were RECONDITIONED not new and they told me that they only had 3 in stock per store hmmmmmm the next cheapest is £50 so may get one of those as they play vcd/svcd/dvd/ and CDRW and mp3 :)

A friend was just showing me his new player - A Yamada, which despite saying otherwise, was multi-region out of the box, and plays pretty well anything (apart from Divx) - PhotoCD as well.
I think he said it was from Amazon.

heheh yeah I OWN A YAMADA umax 2100 :D


lol manual even says REGION 2 :)

but its multi region no mods needed :)

(still lookin for a macrovision hack tho lol :) )


other than that im very happy i am too with it :D:D:D

What im looking for a cheap one that plays svcd/vcd and mp3 for a gift for family for xmas :)

This was the one he was using - and while playing with the remote, found different sweep options for the Photo slide show - didn't find anything more advanced than diagonal wipes though!

there should be T.E. button on the remote this is for KODAK cds but works with any jpg cds u make it does loads of different things with pics :)
