Questions about Nero Bin/Cue imcompatibility

I'm new to CD-r and burning in general and I'm trying to find the best burning programs out there that work properly.. Nero is widely used however, I've been doing some research and it seems like there's a flaw in Nero when burning VCD/SVCD's or files in the .bin .cue formats... Can someone shed some light on this subject.. If the problem has been fixed with the new 5.5.8.1 or 5.5.8.2 versions of the software... It's either Nero or Fireburner... Have some things I'd like to burn, but I want to start out on the right foot... thanks
