Question that doesn't fit anywhere else in this forum

Haven't used my trustful EPSON Stylus Color 400 more than a year (18 months of f*** army service @ my thirties). Today I bought new ink cartridges but it seems that the printing heads are pretty clogged up and I get thin empty horizontal lines inside printed documents (eg: an "A" broken apart). I tried more than 20 times the "head cleaning" utility of the pinter. Situation got better after the first 10 times but not a f** improvemnet after that. So I wonder:

Is there any genious person to suggest something other than to keep using the head cleaning utility? Is there a way to come "face to face" with the head and blow its ink brains out? (cleaning with alcohol maybe)?

P.S.: Bying an HP (where printing head is part of the ink cartridge, thus replaced every time the cartridge is empty) is not considered as an option to your answers LOL

try using the printer cleaning fluid you can buy use a cotton bud/cue tip to drip the fluid down the print head nozzles where the ink flows to the heads do this a couple of times a day for a couple of days and allow it to soak in then clean the heads afterwards with the print head cleaning function in the printer options this may help or may not but has worked for me in the past :)

@ joripe: nice technical term m8! Quite descriptive! LOL

@ VIPER: Tried it before I post. The hole is too small though. I thought an injection would do the job but I'm not sure. I'll keep trying as u suggested.

@ Poko you've just woken up my nightmares. I'm aware of "Mr Davelis' " and his PC Systems allies practices. A former worker there (PC Systems) was enlighted me on them. "Monopoly" on one side accompanied by some attitude on the other...

I have to admit that on plain paper the ink HP used (last time I used an HP printer was 2 years ago) produced better compared to the EPSON one (which diffused somewhat). Also their printing speed I can recall was faster to the EPSON. But the troubles I had with HP made me thank God every night for purchasing an EPSON.

Anyway I'm f*** tired of putting my hand in my pocket (I'm building a new computer now and some problems I face may be the subject of a new thread sometime). So if @ last decide to buy another inkjet what would you people suggest as a best value for money buy?

Fix??

I've had the same problem. If you use a genuine Epson ink catridge (they seem to have a better solvent in the inks than others) and leave it a day or so between head cleaning attemps it should come right. If not get an empty catridge and fill it with isopropyl alcohol or methanol or ethanol and try the head cleaning utility with it. You definitely shouldn't have to replace the heads if you persevere with cleaning....

:D :D :D
