question for chickenman on how to convert avi to vcd

i do have the divx pro v5 installed and the movie will play in windows media player. the problem i think it is in tmpgenc. okay on step 2-conversion of your instructions after loading the movie to my hard drive and running windows media player and playing back the movie. i ran tmpgenc when i browse for the movie file i find it and try to load it it keeps coming up can not open or file is not supported this has done this on every movie file i have. is there some thing else i need to do? is divx codec different than the divx player. i apologize for bothering you with so many questions but i really wanted to play them on my home dvd player and i thank you for your help.

No bother with the questions, just keep asking thats what we are all here for.

I suggest you install the DivX 3.11a codec as well. TMPGEnc is a little fussy in having the exact codec that the DivX was originally made with. Get 3.11a from the download section of w*w.doom9.net

Cheers.

question for chickenman on how to convert avi to vcd

i downloaded divx3.11, so i need this even if the movie i downloaded off of kazaa just says avi, not a divx movie? i mean it will play in windows media player.thanks

A DivX movie is actaully an AVI. Its a commpessed AVI using the DivX Codec for the Video and normally MP3 for the Audio. Thats why they are substantially smaller then a MPG or a normal AVI. A normal un-compressed AVI is like 15 bigger, measured in Gig, not Meg.

There have been many different versions of the DivX codec over the years, where 3.11 has been uses as the defato standard for some time, its only recently that new re-written ver 4 and now 5 suppose to offer full backward compatability. It just doesnt always work in ever situaltion. Best is to install them both, DivX5 then DivX 3.11.

If you still have problems loading the file, it could be the Audio track, but will look at that after your tried 3.11

question for chickenman on how to convert avi to vcd

okay i think i got it to work but the next step says this,
So now click Load and load the appropriate VideoCD template. For a PAL conversion, the task bar ---- okay i have done this but what is the appropriate videocd template because nothing is listed when the file comes up, boy even with instructions this not as easy as i thought it would be, thanks again

TMPGEnc Templates are stored in the Templates folder within the folder you have installed TMPGEnc in, would you believe !

Hit the LOAD button, browse to there and select Video-CD (PAL).mcf, then OK.

question for chickenman on how to convert avi to vcd

i have looked everywhere can't find videocd template file anywhere just wondering if it was under a different name, i'll learn this thing if it takes me all night. thanks

You obviously do NOT have TMPGEnc installed properly.

What version of TMPGEnc have you installed? Suggest you get TMPGEnc ver 2.53 Pro from _http://www.pegasys-inc.com/e_main.html and install. Or you can get it from our main site at _www.cdrsoft.cc plus crack.

I have included 2 JPG files that show what the TMPGEnc folder should look like plus another for the contents of the TEMPLATE folder.

Best of luck m8.
