Question about XP Service Pack One

I did the registry change thing, I changed the product key from devil's own, and installed XP Service Pack One. Now when I go to System under control panel, under System it has Service Pack One listed there. So the question is: Does that mean that the product worked, if not then how would I see if it did?:D

Sabwafare, which registry change did you do? If you see SP1 in the properties, should have worked!

Thanks for the info ..
Yeah, SP1 checks your key. Not only if it is valid, nope it does check as well, if it is one of the "often" used keys.
Like the one from the release groups, so if it installed without giving troubles, I would say: it worked ...

But be aware, this service pack is only a BETA release, and usually beta release from Microsoft are ....

You surely know :)

Yeah that is true ...

Though Win 2k and XP are stable on most systems :)
But as you see in the Bug Traq, Windows problems need to be updated all the time, security issues, bugs, stability problems ..
and so on ... ;)

If only Linux or any other GPLed OS would have had a nice GUI to the time Windows was released ....
Then Microsoft would be out off bizz and we would have a working OS for 0 $ without any spyware functions ...

Just a thought :)
