Question About The Nero Status Bar...

My question is regarding the Status Bar ( the place at the bottom that shows how much spavce you are using on the disc. On my screen it only shows up to 95 min when creating an audio cd. I need it to show like 110 min because I am burning a 99 min cd. I have changed the overburn section to show this. I have even changed my screen size and still cant get the bar to show more then 95 min. Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Sean

Does your burner support 99 min discs? Some burners don't support overburning up to 99 min, there are plenty that are stuck on 89-95 minutes..

I did find out that my burner will support 99 min discs and will burn up to 99 min. I have changed all the overburn settings in Nero (ie red marker and expert features) and still cant get it to change. I know it can be done because in the link to the guide to overburning page there is a pic of the toolbar and it shows 120 min. Im just wondering if there is a setting Im forgetting or if there is a reg change I need to do?

I show 120min, and my overburn is only set to 90.

I can't remember doing anything special - the yellow line is at 74, the red at 80, and the scaling on automatic - Nero version 5.5.9.17 / Win98SE

Yellow is also on 74 for me and red is at 100 (although I cant see it), scaling on Auto and Verison is 5.5.10.28 Also Win98SE

Display resolution? - I have 1024x768 - though it doesn't seem to matter if the window is made smaller
It does matter, if a nonstandard (eg something else than real 4:3) is used... a popular resolution which creates problems with quite a few apps is 1280*1024 (a very common choice for 19" monitors), which is NOT 4:3... but you can use 1280*960 instead.

Im using 800 X 600 now but did bump it up to 1024 X 768 tosee if that made a difference also but it didnt work.

Only other idea is to rip it out and start from scratch - if you have an embedded bundle key, then note it from the registry

(Regedit, examine the Key -
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\ahead\Nero - Burning Rom\Info )

Then uninstall, reboot, and delete any remaining Nero keys from the registry...

(Software\Ahead from both HKEY Local Machine and HKEY Current User - if you have no other stuff from ahead)

Then install the latest 5.5.10 download, and apply your key - this should work even if the original was a bundle version, and avoids having to load the older version first.

Final word, if you're not sure, DON'T - twiddling the registry in the wrong place could render your system unbootable.
If you need it, I could probably cobble together a REG or inf file that would make those deletions.

I'm just wondering, is it a "feature" of 5.5.10.x ? - I've stayed at 5.5.9.17 (because there were too many Win98 victim foulups in 5.5.10), but with V6 to come, I could throw a 5.5.10 at mine and see if it breaks this - might come back with that later....

It IS a 5.5.10 feature - I just upgraded to 5.5.10.42 (after clearing some space - at <400Mb free, my system gets damn flaky!)

I now only get just short of 100min in the bar - the 100min mark is not shown, but would be the end of the bar.

Just looked for any reg entries that may influence - no luck!

If it's essential, and if an earlier one supports your drive, dig out an archive of 5.5.9.17 - as that one certainly showed 120min for me

I am comparing OEM with OEM - as I haven't loaded my 5.5 retail - and with my upgrade now confirmed....

Don't know if they'll still take them , but some places were massively discounting 5.5 boxed - if they are still valid for upgrade, it's a bargain!

Thanks so much for the info. I did uninstall and remove all registry entries and put 5.5.10.42 back on with the same prob and now I also can only seem to write in 2 speeds. 8X and 24X. I will take your advice and try to find the older version

Thanks again!

on the scaling issue has anyone suggested turning off AUTOMATIC scaling and then changing the markers and leaving the scaling off !? :)

also changing burn mode from D.A.O to T.A.O !? (note you will loose the burn cd text option)

I tried that too. Dont see a way to really "turn off" Automatic Scaling just switch it to different formats. Also switching to TAO didnt seem to change it either.
I really appreciate everyones input!!
