Question about Roxio 'drag to disk'

I run WinXP and just loved DirectCD which will not work with WinXP. At least I could not get it to work. I would get the 'Can not find device' errors.

Anyway, I would like to try the 'Drag-to-Disk' but all I can find is the upgrade. I still have my older version (3.01d) of DirectCD. Should I install it and then just install the 'Drag-to-Disk' upgrade over it or is there a place to download a full trial version to see if it will work with WinXP?

Also wondering if there is a downloadable trial verson of Easy CD Creator 6?

Just curious of what size is the full version of Easy CD Creator 6 with Drag-to-Disk included?

Hi :)

As far as i know they don't have a trial or demo version, DirectCD can work under XP, but U have 2 get the program updates from the roxio site here http://www.roxio.com/en/support/software_updates.jhtml

Read the install insruction carefully & it should work when updated

I don't think U can update Ur old version of DirectCD 2 the new Drag2Disc as that is a Easy CD Kremator 6 version

Hope this helps :)

OK, but the Easy CD Creator I have now is version 4.02d, so I would have to download and install:

Updates Easy CD Creator 4.02 or later to 4.05
then
Not sure how to get from 4.05 to 5.x.x
then
Updates Easy CD Creator 5.x.x Platinum to 5.3.5
then
Not sure how to get from 5.3.5 to 6.x.x
then
Updates Easy CD & DVD Creator 6.x.x Platinum to 6.0.4.1

But as you say with all these updates, DirectCD still will not update to Drag-to-Disk.

Do you know how many MG the full version of Easy CD Creator 6 is?

Emm if memory serves me right the full cd is about 400-500mb, maybe more

Version 4 of easy CD doesn't work on XP & i wouldn't recommed puttin that on as U will have a lot of probs & system instability

Version 5 doesn't support XP as is untill U update it from the roxio site 2 at least 5.3.x..x

A lot of flok here don't like easy CD as it causes a lot of probs with other burnin software

U could try nero & make multi session cd's in that, i think U can do somethin similar in easy cd, but it is limited in what it can do

Wait 4 other replies, i haven't used easy cd 4 since version 4, i tried 5, but directCD discs took ages 2 be read & were really slow.Better warn U most folk here will probably recommed U 2 drop easycd in favour of other software

With easy cd, U can't update from 4 to 5 or 5 to 6

First let me say I never use CDRW I like to keep my data on CDR's

I havent used cremator for years & would suggest U try other s/ware <> even Nero would appear to be better (I actually use nero for this one task <> burning data CDR's) but for other stuff I use Alcohol,BAO & Recordnowmax.

I do use Nero now and just downloaded NTI and it looks inviting. But what I mainly want a Drag and Drop program for is things like my utilities. I keep them on a CD and when a new version of lets say Winamp comes out I like to replace the one I have on the CD.

I have never done a multi-section burn before so I might be asking a dumb question.

I know that with mulit-section you get what you want to burn together and burn that group, close that section and when you want to add more you get another group of files together and burn that group to the same CD. Am I correct?

So I don't think this will do what I need in the since that if I burn a grouping of utlities on to a CD and in that grouping I have, let's say a file called Winamp 2.5 within a directory called Winamp. So I go to burn the second group of updates and have a file called Winamp 2.6 in a directory call the same as above. It will put that 2.6 file in the Winamp directory but still leave the 2.5 file also. Am I correct on this?

I know that when you use a CD-RW disk you have to format it some way to be able to drop files onto it. Do you have to have a program like InCD, InstantCD, DirectCD or Drag-to-Disk to do this, or can you format them from within Nero or some other burning someware like that?

DirectCD works under XP, although this is the last thing in the world you should be concerned about.
Leave drag+drop at peace, unless you are a very brave guy/girl and/or you don't object that much about losing data.
