question about memory leak in xp

a friend of mine has this memory leak problem and he doesnt know how to start to findout the culprit

he has win xp pro w/ service pack 1; according to him, when he starts the computer, it shows 300% free memory but after 10 minutes he only gets 145% free, and he hasnt launched any programs; he watched the task manager but it doesnt show anything so he doesnt know what eats up all the memory.

I am on windows 2000 pro so i dont know how to help him. May be someone here can shed some light.

Thanks a lot in advance.

have a look <a href="http://www.computersinmotion.com/cgi-bin/homeframeload.pl?formname=homecontents">HERE</a>

at Take Control its a system monitor (only a 15 day trial but maby it will help )

and get him to have a look and whats going on where maby this will help figure where its going :)

another tip is check how large the swap/paging(virtual memory) file is set for if the hard disk space is running low then so will the swap/paging(virtual memory) :)
