QPS 24x10x40 &CDRWIN

Hi guys, I hope some of you guys can help me out.

I bought new Burner, it is QPS-QUE 24x10x40. my problem is CDRWIN cannot see this drive as a recorder device. I've checked around but don't see any that say about this drive. What should I do?

One more thing, Cannot install Direct CD 5.0 to work with this drive. How can I make it work, i dont wanna use Incd that come with.

Hi bud.You must update both programs to get the writer to work.Newest Cdrwin is on the Cdrsoft download page.Just do a forum search for a crack.Direct Cd will have to be updated from the Roxio site,I believe.Hope that works for you.

For you question, I'm using window98. I've checked in download section, and the newest version of CDRWIN is 4.0a which doesnt work with my drive. I've read somebody said about CDRWIN 5.0 but I'm not sure if it is the same software.

Hmmm...Cdrwin5 is not a good choice.Have you actually tried Cdrwin 4.0A?Cdrwin 4.0 has been upgraded recently.The QPS is a rebadged drive so software updates will be slow coming for it.What firmware version does it have?I think Discjuggler or VOB instant Cd/dvd might work.Discjuggler is a bit difficult to use though(settings).

I have tried CDRWIN 4.0a but still it doesnt recognize my burner drive an a recorder. This new drive have no driver with it so it uses original microsoft driver dated 5-11-1998 and firmware should be 1.02 (Sorry I don't have any knowledge about this kind of thing).

The reason that I want CDRWIN becuz I want to be able to write bin/cue files that I've made for (S)VCD. If you have any suggestions for software that do the job and easy enough to use please let me know. One another software that I use the most is CloneCD and I'm still not sure if it works with this drive.

Oh forgot one more thing, after I installed this drive as a master in the same IDE with my CDROM. I can't play (S)VCD DISC via cdrom with PowerDVD 4.0xp. Any suggestions?

Okay, you don't need drivers.Windows took care of that.Update Nero,it will do bin/cue with newer versions.Between Nero and Clone cd you should be all set.I think you need to wait for an update for Cdrwin,could be a while before they add support for your writer.

Go to device manager and get me the ID.string for your QPS writer.It will be the ID..eg.>QPS Px2410A.Then post it here please.It could be a help

After I installed this drive all I can see is, RW-241040 (standard CD-ROM drive). I dont know if this the one that you want.

Nero with bin/cue files, I had a bad experience with NERO 5.5.1.8. It didnt burn bin/cue file properly, so I'm not sure if I wanna use this new version to do the job.

This is my list of software and job that I need to be in this system, so could you give me any suggestions or recommendation if you can?

1. Nero buring rom - for regular burnning data cd
2. Direct CD - for backup job and trasfer data between home and office (cdrw format). The reason that I want Direct CD, becuz all other systems (3 computers) use Direct CD.
3. CDRWIN - for burning bin/cue file ( I do this quite often, especially with homemade (S)VCD. )
4. CloneCD - for copy all kind of CD (not quite often).
5. MP3 CDMaker - for burnning audio CD fm mp3 (just a hobby)

P.S. After I installed this drive, PowerDVD 4.0xp becomes un-usable (play full feature (S)VCD via both CD-ROM). My setup is, Burner - master 2nd IDE, Old CD-ROM - slave 2nd IDE, HDD - master - master 1st IDE. Did I do something wrong with this setup???

If you have one hard drive,best configuration is.

Primary master: Hard drive > Primary slave cdrom

Secondary master: Cdwriter

Make sure jumpers are configured properly.All software must be updated because this is a newer writer,as I mentioned.Check the aspi layer,I will enclose a checker,post the log here please.

I agee with you poko. that why I put a lot of efforts to use DirectCD with this drive. So far, I throw away 3 coaster CDRWs I got only one that work with both InCD and DirectCD. From your advise now I got new aspi layer in my comp. from Forcd ASPI 1.7 but I dont see any benefit just yet. CDRWIN still doesnt work, MP3cdmaker doesnt see the dirve as a burner. InCD still gives me a headache.
