PVR=>CPU/HDD=>DVD-r

I am sure I am not the first to ponder the possibilities of ?Somehow? transferring say my favorite comercials I have recorded on my DISHPVR-508 to my HDD so that I could later back them up to a DVD-r for safe keeping. In the case I wanted to show my kids the many great commercials of my era. And, if I wanted to retain the original Digital format and quality? Anyone wanna share ideas? I mean the commercials would be on the PVR's HDD as a file and then means could be transferred somehow?? Well, just wanted to throw a thought out.

Does your PVR have a firewire IEEE1394 connector? (Not USB)

If so, try using a DV camera capture package to suck it off, like Pinnacle Studio, Adobe Premier, Vegas Video, Scenalyzer Live, etc.
