Psssssst did you know !? DVD easter egg or hidden gem !? You decide !? is the title of this thread !? wanna know why !?!?
did you know you can play DVD's with
WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER 6!? its in there but many just dont know how to get at it !!.................
So here it is for win 98./SE you can enable it following these instructions !!.....
note if you have ME skip this part just goto star menu /run command and type "dvdplay" and discover something nice ! heheheh !!
ok onwards for 98/SE users
step one is to make a backup of you system registery just in case !
goto the start menu /run command and type in
scanregw and hit enter to make a registery backup ! this is important just in case !
to restore the registery backup if you have problems with
scanreg /restore and hit enter
step 2 is goto the run menu again and type in regedit and hit enter
then click on the
+ symbol on the HKEY_CURRENT_USER to expand the directory tree !
scroll down to SOFTWARE and expand this too and scroll down to where it says "MICROSUCK" , ahem i mean erm "MICROSOFT", then expand this and scroll down to "MEDIA PLAYER" then expand this and scroll to "PLAYER" then finally click on "SETTINGS"
the window to the right should show the contents of the settings branch!
goto where it says "EDIT" on the menu bar and click on NEW and select "STRING VALUE"
step 3 you will see a new entry appear in the window to the right ....ready for renaming type in this
Enable DVDUI end hit enter!
double click on this new entry or right click it and select "MODIFY" in the value data box type "YES" in capital letters! and click on OK!
now close the registery editor and reboot your SYSTEM/PC !!
NOW when you load "WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER" you will have an "OPEN DVD"option under the file menu hehehehehe!!! which you can use for............(do i have to tell you what for !? you got this far work the rest out lol !!!
