Then, what is this?

Edit: It seems like it will be very difficult to do, though, because the PS2 is VERY powerfull in 3D rendering.

PC vs PS2 in-depth tech comparison:
ht*tp://www.arstechnica.com/cpu/2q00/ps2/ps2vspc-1.html

And a quote from the last page of the same article:

[...] "So which machine is more powerful? Well, if you're talking 3D gaming and you mean right now, I wouldn't hesitate to give the crown to the PS2. Looking ahead to the next two or three years, the future looks much less certain. It'll be quite a while before developers are able to figure out how to harness the full capabilities of the PS2, and while they're scratching their heads the PC will be getting more and more powerful. As we'll soon see with the NV15, the PC is still advancing quickly under the old "large buckets and slightly bigger pipes" paradigm. However, the PS2 represents the true next generation of media processing, and until the PC catches up with it in terms of bandwidth and overall data throughput (read "SIMD") it can't be worthily called a true dynamic media machine. That being said, a look at the PS2 is a look into the (probably near) future of the PC. The data pipes will indeed get wider, SIMD will increase the amount of media data a PC can process, and the PC will resemble more and more the kind of media machine that Diefendorff and Duby described, and that the engineers at Sony and Mitsubishi built."

thats a link to one of several ps2 emulators, none of which are close to running anything like a commercial game, at present on the pc the closest these emulators get is partial emulation at chip level, however there is one playstation 2 emulator that is a lot closer (its already booting both commercial products and "back ups" from any region) its still slow and the guys writing it said last weekend its still a good 3-4 months away from its release. it will not be for the pc platform and it wont be made public untill its fully working, if its never fully working it will never be released as with a product like that (yes its free) sony will be all over the authors as soon as it hits the net so there will be no second chances with it, it has to run perfectly first time.

The privatly stated intention of the lads programming it is very simple "to take out the ps2 from the market for good, in payment for what sony did to the modchip designers", trust me, if its completed its going to do what they say as no one will EVER buy a ps2 at retail ever again (unless they are braindead) after all if you can play all your ps2 games using ps2 joypads on another system (that is easier to chip) without having to spend the best part of £300 for a ps2 and a chip, why would anyone buy a ps2 again?

Please dont ask for more, i can not say anything else on this subject, all should be revealed oct/november, you can guess all you like, but i wont respond, sorry.
